What the Raptor buys at this size is drag, not gearing. It runs the same 5.4:1 and 2.4:1 as the standard HXJ, but the dual carbon drag goes from 22 lb at strike to 40, and 50 buttoned down — and that is what moves it from a 30-60 lb reel to a 50-100 lb one. (The lower 1.9:1 low gear belongs to the standard-width HX and HXW Raptors, not the narrow HXJ.) Avet offers a power handle upgrade for these reels from the factory so if you wanted to order one and didn't mind waiting for a small up charge your can get the bigger jigging handle that comes on the HXW Raptor
